FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Frequently asked questions

  1. What is a craft? That is actually a very difficult question to answer. Traditionally, craft has meant objects handmade for use, such as a cup for drinking or a chair for sitting.  Because the exclusive need for functional handmade objects no longer exists, and because the learning of craft processes may take place outside community tradition, contemporary craft is marked by innovation in design and materials. Accepted as an important art form, contemporary craft is marked by new interpretations of traditional technique and style. If you are still unsure contact us with an image or description danhieux@yahoo.com, wailoaartculturalcenter@gmail.com
  2. Each separate piece of art is considered an application. Pieces that incorporate more than one piece can be submitted as a single entry but can't be broken up into indiviual pieces for sale.
  3. I paid but I can not submit my entry. Email support danhieux@yahoo.com, wailoaartculturalcenter@gmail.com We are a volunteer run organization so please be patient for a response.
  4. What if I’m not sure how many pieces I want to enter?  Can I later add more? Yes, you can always purchase additional tokens later up to the limit for the call.
  5. Can I update my entry? Yes up until the close of the call.
  6. Can the picture be changed? Yes, go to your entry and delete the picture. You will be prompted to add another one.
  7. My picture won't upload.  Your image must be between 1920 and 4096 pixels on the longest side.
  8. Why do we have to pay before we submit? Unfortunately it's the way the site is designed.
  9. Can I get a refund if I later decide not to submit? Up until the close of the call, yes. Please contact support, danhieux@yahoo.com, wailoaartculturalcenter@gmail.com
  10. Do I have to join Hawaii Craftsman in order to participate in the show? No, but joining gets you a less expensive rate of $10 per entry.
